At-One-Ment

When I stop and think about Christ's atonement I am often speechless.  I am very thankful for Christ's sacrifice for me and that He would die so that I can live with Heavenly Father again one day.  My favorite thing I learned about the Atonement through researching these quotes and reading different talks has been that I (we) was tutored by the Lord in the challenges that I would personally face while here on Earth.  This wasn't really news to me, I just never fully understood it until I began reading about it more.  It has been a humbling experience for me to look at the atonement in a different light.  To know that the Lord knew all of the challenges we would face before he sent his son, Christ, to atone for our sings, brings an overwhelming feeling of love that He has for us.  I am thankful for the opportunity that I have to reflect on the Savior each Sunday during the Sacrament being passed.

Quote 1:  "What He did could only be done by Deity. As the Only Begotten Son of the Father in the flesh, Jesus inherited divine attributes. He was the only person ever born into mortality who could perform this most significant and supernal act. As the only sinless Man who ever lived on this earth, He was not subject to spiritual death. Because of His godhood, He also possessed power over physical death. Thus He did for us what we cannot do for ourselves. He broke the cold grasp of death. He also made it possible for us to have the supreme and serene comfort of the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Jame E. Faust "The Atonement: Our Greatest Hope", October General Conference 2001

Quote 2:  "However late you think you are, however many chances you think you might have missed, however many mistakes you feel you have made or talents you think you don't have, or however far from God you feel you have traveled, I testify that you have not traveled beyond divine love. It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light of Christ's Atonement shines."

Quote 3:  The Savior is the source of true peace. Even with the trials of life, because of the Savior’s Atonement and His grace, righteous living will be rewarded with personal peace. In the intimate setting of the Passover chamber, the Savior promised His Apostles that they would be blessed with the “Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost” and then uttered these important words: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”30 Then just before His Intercessory Prayer: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”31

Quote 4:  No matter what our transgressions have been, no matter how much our actions may have hurt others, that guilt can all be wiped out. To me, perhaps the most beautiful phrase in all scripture is when the Lord said, “Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.”11
That is the promise of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Atonement: to take anyone who comes, anyone who will join, and put them through an experience so that at the end of their life, they can go through the veil having repented of their sins and having been washed clean through the blood of Christ.12
Elder Boyd K Packer
General Conference October 2012, The Atonement

Quote 5:  “True repentance is about transformation, not torture or torment.”
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
You Can Do It Now, October 2013 General Conference: Priesthood Session

Quote 6:  “There is an important difference between the sorrow for sin that leads to repentance and the sorrow that leads to despair… Godly sorrow inspires change and hope through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Worldly sorrow pulls us down, extinguishes hope, and persuades us to give in to further temptation.”
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
You Can Do It Now, October 2013 General Conference: Priesthood Session

Quote 7: The gospel of Jesus Christ opens the path to what we may become.  Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His grace, our failures to live the celestial law perfectly and consistently in mortality can be erased and we are enabled to develop a Christlike character.
D. Todd Christofferson
General Conference  - October 2014

Quote 8: The Savior can wipe away our tears of regreat and remove the burden of our sins. His Atonement allows us to leave the past behind and move forward with clean hands, a pure heart, and a determination to do better and especially to become better. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf "Of Regrets and Resolutions", October 2012 General Conference

Quote 9: Just as chalk can be removed from a blackboard. With sincere repentance, the effects of our transgression can be erased through the atonement of Jesus Christ. Boyd K. Packer The Key to Spiritual Protection, October 2013 General Conference

Quote 10: The Lord sees weakness differently than rebellion. When the Lord speaks of weaknesses it is always with Mercy. Richard G. Scott Personal Strength Through the Atonement of Christ, October 2013 General Conference
