Together Forever (Marriage)

I am thankful for the Proclamation to the Family. It is one of my favoritet hings that the Church has published.  I read it recently and enjoyed the reminder that marriage is ordained of God.  I am so thankful that I am married to my husband and we are sealed in the temple.  My children will grow up, get married and leave to have their own families.  My husband will be with me forever...my eternal companion.  He's been with me through all of the good times and all of the bad times.

Quote 1: I have long felt that happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and wellpbeing of one's companion.

Quote 2:  Those who enter into marriage should be fully prepared to establish their marriage as the first priority in their lives.
James E. Faust

Quote 3:  I don't believe there is only one right person for you...Once you commit to being married, your spouse becomes your soul mate and it is your duty and responsibility to work every day to keep it that way.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"The Reflection in the Water" {Church Educational System Fireside for Young Adults, Nov. 1, 2009}

Quote 4:  True love blooms when we care more about another person than we care about ourselvbes.
Elder Jeffery R. Holland

Quote 5:  Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he's been robbed.  The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to just be people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise....The trick it to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.

Quote 7:  Mating begins with Romance. . .and if you suppose that the full-blown rapture of young romantic love is the sum total of the possibilities which spring from the fountains of life, you have not yet lived to see the devotion and the comfort of longtime married love.
Boyd K. Packer - The Plan of Happiness - April 2015 General Conference

Quote 8:  ". . .two essential ingredients to a successful marriage are a cookie and a kiss."
Boyd K. Packer - The Plan of Happiness - April 2015 General Conference

Quote 9:  I am satisfied that happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and well-being of one’s companion. Any man who will make his wife’s comfort his first concern will stay in love with her throughout their lives and through the eternity yet to come
Gordon B. Hinkley (Anchorage, Alaska, regional conference, 18 June 1995

Quote 10:  "“We are not doing our duty as holders of the priesthood when we go beyond the marriageable age and withhold ourselves from an honorable marriage to these lovely women.”6
President Gordon B. Hinckley said this: “My heart reaches out to … our single sisters, who long for marriage and cannot seem to find it. … I have far less sympathy for the young men, who under the customs of our society, have the prerogative to take the initiative in these matters but in so many cases fail to do so."

"Perhaps you are afraid of making the wrong choice. To this I say that you need to exercise faith. Find someone with whom you can be compatible. Realize that you will not be able to anticipate every challenge which may arise, but be assured that almost anything can be worked out if you are resourceful and if you are committed to making your marriage work."
President Thomas S. Monson - Priesthood Power - General Conference - April 2011
