Counting My Blessings

It has been my goal recently to remember to be thankful for all that I have and to express my gratitude to my Heavenly Father and those around me.  I know that when we focus on our blessings we train ourselves to see the good...even in difficult times we will be happier and find joy.  When we are grateful, we not only life our own spirits, we can lift the spirits of others.  I am striving to continue to find the blessings in my life and always thank my Father in Heaven for all that I do have.

Quote 1:  “Ask yourself, 'How did God bless me today?' If you do that long enough and with faith, you will find yourself remembering blessings. And sometimes, you will have gifts brought to your mind which you failed to notice during the day, but which you will then know were a touch of God’s hand in your life.”
Henry B. Eyring – October General Conference 1989

Quote 2:  “Sooner or later, I believe that all of us experience times when the very fabric of our world tears at the seams, leaving us feeling alone, frustrated, and adrift. It can happen to anyone. No one is immune. Everyone’s situation is different, and the details of each life are unique. Nevertheless, I have learned that there is something that would take away the bitterness that may come into our lives. There is one thing we can do to make life sweeter, more joyful, even glorious. We can be grateful!”
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf – Grateful in Any Circumstance April 2014 General Conference

Quote 3:  “It is easy to be grateful for things when life seems to be going our way. But what then of those times when what we wish for seems to be far out of reach?
Could I suggest that we see gratitude as a disposition, a way of life that stands independent of our current situation? In other words, I’m suggesting that instead of being thankful for things, we focus on being thankful in our circumstances—whatever they may be.”
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf – Grateful in Any Circumstance April 2014 General Conference

Quote 4:  "No matter our circumstances, no matter our challenges or trials, there is something in each day to embrace and cherish. There is something in each day that can bring gratitude and joy if only we will see and appreciate it.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf - Of Regrets and Resolutions - October 2012 General Conference

Quote 5: "We should be grateful for all of the tender mercies that come into our lives.  We are unaware of hosts of blessing that we recieve from day to day. I tis extrmely important that we have a spirit of gratitude in our hearts."
Elder Quentin L. Cook - The Songs They Could Not Sing - October 2011

Quote 6: GRATITUDE is a mark of a noble soul and a refined character.  We like to be around those who are grateful.  They tend to brighten all around them.  They make others feel better about themselbves.  They tend to be more humble, more joyful, more likable.
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin - Living In Daily Thanksgiving - Sep 2011 Ensign

Quote 7:  As we go to the holy house,...we will be ABLE TO BEAR EVERY TRIAL and OVERCOME EACH TEMPTATION. The temple provides PURPOSE for OUR LIVES. It brings PEACE TO OUR SOULS.
President Thomas S. Monson - Blessings of the Temple - Ensign, October 2010, 15

Quote 8:  “Sometimes we should express our gratitude for the small and simple things like the scent of the rain, the taste of your favorite macaroni and cheese recipe, or the sound of a loved one’s voice. Thinking of things we are grateful for is a healing balm. It helps us get outside ourselves. It changes our focus from our pains and our trials to the abundance of this beautiful world we live in.”
Joseph B. Wirthlin, “Improving Our Prayers”, BYU Devotional, January 21, 2003, speeches.byu.edu

Quote 9:  “My brothers and sisters, do we remember to give thanks for the blessings we receive? Sincerely giving thanks not only helps us recognize our blessings, but it also unlocks the doors of heaven and helps us feel God’s love.”
President Thomas S. Monson, “The Divine Gift of Gratitude”, November 2010 Ensign

Quote 10:  “We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues.”
President Thomas S. Monson, “An Attitude of Gratitude”, April 1992 General Conference
